During construction, factories had ejected columns of oceanic ice beyond the tionsphere. The water was a miraculous resource ready to be exploited by anyone who dared. 

The Odyssée uprising restricted the movement of people and data between Tion’s levels, but Mike has a licence to move tourists through the spheres. His latest clients are an unlikely couple: Aryan is a valuable personality from the Ones, while Dawn was employed to grow three children. For Aryan, celebrity has become lacklustre, and without her favourite daughter, Dawn’s life has little meaning.

As they descend into the Depths and beyond, the crisis facing Tion becomes clear. Mike has not concerned himself with Pazel for almost two decades but knows the conquest of Tion’s surface is imminent. When Mike discovers scattered communities across Zero, he knows he must confront Pazel, but then the ice starts to bombard the world. Their journey becomes one of survival, not just theirs, but for hundreds of thousands of billions of people.
